PlanetSide 2

Post  UF Garanas on Mon Feb 18, 2013 4:21 pm

So, I talked to Oliver and after a philosophical talk about color and choices in life we started talking about games.
And we came to the conclusion we practically had no game in commen anymore.

Here I am to attempt a fix.

So, first off is Planetside 2. This is a First person shooter on Steam and is free.

The game consists of three factions, trying to get hold of three enourmes (I repeat, enourmes) islands.
Now, there is no real "victory" when you have an entire island, if you're even capable of getting it.

The game is, as I said before, first person. However, there are more then hundreds or even thousand of players on a server simultaniously, allowing huge warfares to take place.

This can create some serious tense action, and because it's so grand scaled it's actually quite spectacular to just sit tight with a sniper and watch all your allies die. Especially at night. While still haven it being not that graphical intense. On lower settings.

Sadly, there is no map editor or anything of such kind.

As I was saying, the game can be quite spectacular. You can play in groups (which can be quite huge as far I'm aware) with other players, such as friends, to coordinate better. (Even though it mostly ends up with everyone running in and dying).

To sum it all up:
-> Massive scale.
-> Quite spectacular, but shouldn't be that graphic intense.
-> You can actually attempt to be a tactical group of people.

Anyone interested in giving it a try this upcoming weekend?

This one is free, and quite good too.

I have both those games, I can't join you on Planetside though because I'm only on the Aus server.

Oh, and you need to choose the same faction if you want to team up, only 1 allowed per server. There are 3 factions fighting on 3 continents.

Put it this way, you can make a squad of 10 players, then make a platoon of 4 squads. It's gets pretty mad, and the maps are huge.

You need to make sure your computer can handle it, even on the lowest settings my fps is around 15. It overheated my friend's computer and now it's struggling to handle simpler graphics now.

Well as Jip said, we discussed it on ... Monday I think?

So immediatly I gave planetside 2 a try, but the problem was as Dave said, if my PC could handle it. I updated my drivers (which were severly outdated), closed down steam, origin and so on in my PC to gain maximum effect from the game, but even on mostly the lowest setting sadly, the game manages to lag for me. I did kill one person, but was immedietly shot by a tank afterwards and I didn't ever underestand where the shot game from. So sadly I think my PC will not be able to handle the game :/

Guess we will have to think of another game or give planetside 1 a try (even tho the graphics there arent so good). There i also still the chance of halo CE, but for those who do not own it yet, will prob have to buy it.

Are the servers of Halo 1 then still running?
Quite the surprise if so.

Ye, Halo CE is quite good too.
Lots of custom maps (Coldsnap! Smile)
